TOPOROWSKI PRIMED FOR SECOND PROFESSIONAL SEASON

Oct 4, 2023

After an impressive rookie campaign last year that earned him his first National Hockey League contract, forward Luke Toporowski is primed for his second season with the Providence Bruins.

The undrafted, 22-year-old recorded 15 goals and 14 assists in 47 games played after he signed an American Hockey League deal in the summer of 2022. With his new NHL Entry Level Deal for the 2023-24 season, the Bettendorf, Iowa, native knows what it will take to bring his game to the next level.

“I think just building off of a good camp, learning lessons up in Boston, soaking up everything I learned there, and building off of last season, learning from Moug [Ryan Mougenel] and Whitter [Trent Whitfield]. It’s just picking up off of a good camp and we’re excited to get to the regular season.”

Spending time in Boston at the beginning of Bruins Training Camp, Toporowski feels it helped his game to skate with the NHL’ers.

“You’re up with the NHL’ers on a day-to-day basis. You just see the execution that they have in their passing and their shooting. They don’t take a drill or a rep off.”

One area of Toporowski’s game that can frighten his opponents is his hard, accurate shot, which he was able to strengthen while he was injured last season.

“We happened to find a synthetic ice shooting gym,” said Toporowski. “Top Shelf Off Ice, owned by Rodney Millete. He did a lot for us. He let us shoot pucks whenever we wanted.”

Toporowski is aware of what the focus is for his game heading into the new season.

“I think just details. Picking up little sequences in the D-Zone and being good down there, and really focusing on the D-Zone. The D-Zone translates to offense.”

The left-hand shot hopes to lead the Providence offense to another winning season.
