RICHARD READY TO MAKE SPLASH WITH NEW SQUAD

Oct 5, 2023

Eight professional seasons with three organizations has enhanced the growth of forward Anthony Richard, who is now with the fourth team of his American Hockey League career, the Providence Bruins.

The 26-year-old posted a career high 67 points on 30 goals with the Laval Rocket last season, while tallying five points on three goals in 15 NHL games with the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins recognized the talent and signed him during free agency this offseason.

While recording more than one point per-game last season, Richard looks to improve his game with his new squad.

“Every year I get more opportunities, getting a better role every year. I just keep pushing to be the guy on the team and be reliable on the offensive side and defensive side. Every year I get to play with better guys and get put in better situations.”

Being the new guy in the locker room is something that the Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, native is familiar with. However, Richard embraces the new opportunity each time.

“It’s just about getting to know all the guys in the room, the new system, and know your city, as well. So, it’s always exciting to come to a new city. I’m excited to be here in Providence. I’ve only heard good things about the city and the team, so I’m really excited about the season.”

Richard believes that his offensive skills and speed are what helped him develop into an offensive prowess.

“Those two [aspects] allowed me to have the year that I had last year. I focused a lot on that this summer. Hopefully, it translates at the beginning of the season.”

Richard is set to bolster the Providence Bruins offense and can’t wait to get started with the organization.

“I’m really excited for this year. We have a good team. I feel like I haven’t been in a better place since I turned pro.”
