How It Happened

  • 1:09 into the game, Kyle Clifford backhanded the puck from behind the net out to Zach Solow in front of the net, who redirected it across the goal line, giving Toronto a 1-0 lead.
  • Off an offensive zone face-off, Boqvist found himself one-on-one with the goaltender where the initial save was made, before Merkulov put in the rebound at the right post to tie the game at 1-1 with 13:23 remaining in the first period.
  • 38 seconds into the second period, Renouf controlled the puck at the point off an offensive zone face-off and hammered a slapshot that was deflected into the net by Boqvist, giving the P-Bruins a 2-1 lead. Brazeau received an assist as well.
  • From below the goal line, Mikko Kokkonen found Kieffer Bellows cutting to the blue paint, where he directed the puck into the back of the net, tying the game at 2-2 with 11:43 left in the second frame.
  • 14 seconds into the third period, Topi Niemelä caught a feed cutting down between the circles and snapped a shot between the goaltender’s legs, giving the Marlies a 3-2 lead.
  • Farinacci’s shot from the left circle sat along the goal line, before Brazeau crashed the net and poked the puck across the line, tying the game at 3-3 with 17:58 remaining in the third period. Merkulov received an assist as well.
  • While playing 4-on-4, Nick Abruzzese sent a cross-ice pass from the right-side boards to Logan Shaw in the left circle, where he one-timed the puck into the top shelf of the net, giving Toronto a 4-3 lead with 12:22 left in the third period.
  • On the same 4-on-4, Max Lajoie walked the puck down the slot and wristed a shot into the top left corner, extending the Marlies’ lead to 5-3 with 11:10 to play in the third period.
