P-BRUINS BATTLE DEVILS ON SNOWY SUNDAY
Providence Hosts Lowell to Wrap Up 2009 Home Schedule
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins (16-14-1-0, 33 PTS, 7th Atlantic) host the Lowell Devils (17-12-3-0, 37 PTS, 2nd Atlantic) this evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center for the teams' fifth of 10 regular season meetings in 2009-10. On the year, the P-Bruins are 2-2-0-0 against the Devils, including 2-0-0-0 in Rhode Island.
Providence enters play this evening following last night's 3-2 overtime win on the road against the Springfield Falcons. Zach Hamill scored the winning goal for his second strike in as many games while Kevin Regan earned his third straight road victory. The win snapped a three-game losing skid in which the P-Bruins had been out-scored 8-2 overall. On the other side, Lowell had its three-game winning streak ended last night by the Manchester Monarchs, falling 2-0 in New Hampshire. The Devils had out-scored their opponents 12-5 during their run of success. With the Atlantic Division remaining jam-packed, the P-Bruins are only four points behind the Devils despite being separted by five spots.
After a goal last night, the P-Bruins continue to be led offensively by Mikko Lehtonen with his 11 goals, 15 assists and 26 points. In net, Dany Sabourin is 13-9-0 with one shutout and a 2.50 goals-against-average. Sabourin is 2-0-0 versus Lowell this season. The Devils are paced by Ben Walter's 24 points and 16 assists. Tim Sestito and Nick Palmieri share the team-lead at nine goals. Between the pipes, Mike McKenna has seen the bulk of the action with a record of 11-7-0, two shutouts and a 2.32 GAA. He is 1-1-0 against Providence.
On special teams, Providence (18.7%, 7th) and Lowell (23.6%, 1st) rank in the AHL's top 10 on the power play. The P-Bruins sit 18th (82.1%) on the penalty kill while the Devils are 23rd (80.4%).

Providence is back in action with three games after the holiday break, all on the road. The P-Bruins travel to Lowell on Saturday, December 26, for a 7 p.m. start. Providence takes on Manchester at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 27. The P-Bruins then battle Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29.
