P-BRUINS RELEASE 2009-10 SCHEDULE

Season Opens October 4 at The Dunk vs. Springfield

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, the 2008-09 Atlantic Division champions of the American Hockey League, today announced their schedule for the 2009-10 season, the 18th in franchise history. The Black and Gold, led by head coach Rob Murray and assistant coach Bruce Cassidy, will play an 80-game schedule with games against 14 different opponents. The P-Bruins open their season at home on Sunday, October 4 at 7:05 p.m., hosting the Springfield Falcons at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

The P-Bruins' 40-game home schedule features 39 weekend dates, matching last year's franchise high. Providence will play 20 Friday night games, one Saturday evening contest and 18 games on Sunday afternoon.

All Friday and Saturday night games will be played at 7:05 p.m., while all Sunday games will begin at 4:05 p.m., with the exception of Sunday, February 7 against the Worcester Sharks. Face-off for that contest will be at 2:05 p.m.

The busiest month of the season for Providence will be in March with the club playing 14 games. The P-Bruins will play a season-high eight home games in January, while playing a high of eight road games in each December and March.

The P-Bruins will play in the newly-aligned eight-team Atlantic Division, and will face-off with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Lowell Devils, Manchester Monarchs, Springfield and Worcester ten times each. The Black and Gold see the Portland Pirates for eight games and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on six occasions. This gives Providence a total of 64 games against its Atlantic Division rivals.

The P-Bruins will also see six of the seven teams in the East Division. They meet the Adirondack Phantoms, Albany River Rats, Binghamton Senators, Hershey Bears, Syracuse Crunch and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for two games each.

The P-Bruins will face one team from the Western Conference, the North Division's Abbotsford Heat. The first-year franchise will match-up with the P-Bruins a total of four times.

Providence's games against Abbotsford and the new Adirondack incarnation will mark the first meetings in franchise history.
