Providence got quality scoring chances from Colby Cohen, Brian McGrattan, Jordan Smotherman and Kirk MacDonald, but was unable to score as the game went into the first intermission scoreless.
A minute and a half into the second period, Nathan McIver and Brandon Mashinter dropped the gloves in the second fight of the game. The Sharks took a 1-0 lead at the 16:09 mark of the second period. The final period saw more quality scoring chances from Providence, however the P-Bruins failed to find the net. Following several opportunities on a delayed penalty 8 minutes into the third period, Providence was unable to score on their only power play of the final period. Providence's strongest scoring chance came on a breakaway opportunity from Maxime Sauve whose shot went just wide of Worcester net minder Carter Hutton's outreached glove. After Dalton skated to the bench for the extra attacker in the final minute, Worcester defenseman Nick Schaus intercepted the puck in the neutral zone to set up Mashinter's empty net goal at the 19:05 mark of the final period. Dan DaSilva recorded the second assist as the Sharks went on to the 2-0 victory.
