P-BRUINS DEFEAT SOUND TIGERS 2-1
Back at The Dunk Friday vs. Worcester
Bridgeport, CT - The Providence Bruins defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2-1 in overtime Wednesday evening at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The P-Bruins got their goals from David Ling and Jamie Arniel. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Worcester Sharks.
After a scoreless opening period, Providence took a 1-0 lead at the 1:13 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Wyatt Smith picked up the puck in the corner and found Yury Alexandrov at the right point. He shot the puck, which went off the stick of Ling then went off the post and into the net. It was Ling's first goal of the season. The Sound Tigers tied the game at one at the 12:14 mark, while on the power play. Jon Landry tallied his first goal of the season, with Jon Sim and Josh Bailey recording the assists. The game went into the second intermission tied at one.
After a scoreless third period, the game went into overtime. At the 3:06 mark, Nathan McIver sent the puck out of his own end of the ice to Jeff LoVecchio in the neutral zone. He found Arniel in the left faceoff circle, who sent the puck top shelf into the net for his ninth goal of the season and third overtime game winning goal of the year.
Michael Hutchinson stopped 27 of 28 shots for the P-Bruins, while Kevin Poulin made 29 saves for the Sound Tigers. The P-Bruins were 1-for-6 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Providence is back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday for Kid's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Sharks.
