P-Bruins Out-Shoot Hartford 41-18

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Hartford Wolf Pack 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins return to The Dunk on Friday, October 29 at 7:05 p.m. for their first meeting with the Albany Devils.

Hartford got the scoring started early in the first period, capitalizing on two power plays within the opening five minutes with goals from Dane Byers and Tim Kennedy, both assisted by Kris Newbury. Providence picked up the momentum midway through the period with a couple of scoring opportunities from Jamie Arniel and Zach Hamill, but they were unable to capitalize in front of rookie goalie Cameron Talbot. The Wolf Pack responded with their third goal of the period off a shot from Jeremy Williams at the 12:37 mark, giving him a multiple-point game. P-Bruins defenseman Nathan McIver then released some frustration when he dropped the gloves with Justin Soryal with 4:12 remaining in the period as both received five-minute fighting majors.

The second period got off to a slower start as both teams went scoreless. Despite out shooting Hartford 17-4 in the period, Providence could not get the puck past Talbot. Providence largely dominated in the offensive zone, coming up with multiple tip-in opportunities from Joe Colborne and Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman in front of the net, but they were unable to capitalize on Talbot's rebounds. Rookie Antoine Roussel dropped the gloves with Newbury with 4:41 remaining in the period, resulting in five-minute fighting majors for both. The P-Bruins gave Talbot a scare with just 20 seconds remaining in the second when Jeff LoVecchio tipped a shot from Kirk MacDonald in the slot but the P-Bruins continued to trail by three going into the third frame.

Providence and Hartford went scoreless in the third period. Despite a couple of quality shots from the point from Jeff Penner and Steve Kampfer, the P-Bruins could not put the puck in the back of the net. The P-Bruins out-shot the Wolf Pack 12-8 in the period.

Michael Hutchinson suffered the loss, stopping 15 of 18 shots for Providence. Talbot earned the win by blocking 41 shots for the Wolf Pack.

The P-Bruins out shot Hartford 41-18 over three periods of play and went 0-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
