Back at The Dunk Friday vs. Abbotsford Heat

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Syracuse Crunch 7-4 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Jamie Arniel, Mikko Lehtonen and two goals from Zach Hamill.  The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Winter Hat Night against the Abbotsford Heat.

The Crunch took a 1-0 advantage at the 4:44 mark of the opening period, while on the power play.  Michael Ratchuk tallied his second goal of the season, unassisted.  Syracuse made it 2-0 at the 9:46 mark, while on the power play.  Alexandre Picard netted his 12th goal of the season, with Dylan Reese and Michael Blunden recording the assists.  The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 12:30 mark.  Craig Weller sent the puck into the zone for John Lammers.  He got it to Hamill, who scored his 11th goal of the season.  Syracuse led 2-1 going into the first intermission.

The P-Bruins tied the game at two at the 5:27 mark of the second period.  Jared Ross cleared the puck out of the zone and Lane MacDermid picked it up on the neutral zone.  He fed the puck to Arniel, who tallied from the right face-off circle, his 11th goal of the season.  The Crunch retook the lead at the 16:12 mark, while shorthanded.  Blunden netted his fifth goal of the season, with Reese and Jonathan Sigalet picking up the assists.  Syracuse made it 4-2 at the 17:34 mark.  Sigalet scored his eighth goal of the season, while David Liffiton and Mike Radja grabbed the assists.  The Crunch led 4-2 going into the second intermission.

Syracuse took a 5-2 advantage at the 1:18 mark of the third period.  Picard tallied his second goal of the game and 13th of the season, while Blunden had the assist.  Providence made their way back into the game starting with a power play goal at the 2:48 mark.  Jeff Penner held the puck at the right point and sent it to Andy Wozniewski at the left point.  He passed it halfway down the boards to Lehtonen, where he shot the puck into the net for his 20th goal of the season.  The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 6:48 mark.  Trent Whitfield chipped the puck up to Brad Marchand who sent it into the crease.  Hamill slipped it into the net for his second goal of the game and 12th of the season.  Syracuse answered back at the 13:46 mark, while on the power play.  Picard netted his third goal of the game and 14th of the season, with Brendan Bell getting the lone assist.  The Crunch finished off the scoring with an empty net shorthanded goal at the 18:22 mark.  Derek MacKenzie scored his 14th goal of the season, while Grant Clitsome recorded the lone assist.  Syracuse went onto the 7-4 victory.

Dany Sabourin stopped 25 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while Dan LaCosta made 32 saves for the Crunch.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-5 on the penalty kill.
