P-Bruins Continue Playoffs Friday At The Dunk

Portland, ME - The Providence Bruins defeated the Portland Pirates 2-1 Thursday evening at the Cumberland County Civic Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Brad Marchand and Kirk MacDonald.  The P-Bruins lead the best of seven series 3 games to 1.  The P-Bruins continue the Calder Cup Playoffs at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday versus the Pirates at 7:05 p.m.

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead at the 11:55 mark of the opening period.  Mark Mancari tallied his first goal of the post-season, while Marek Zagrapan and Tim Kennedy recorded the assists.  Portland went into the first intermission leading 1-0.

The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 17:13 mark of the second period.  Martin St. Pierre had the puck along the boards and sent it to Johnny Boychuk at the blue line.  He took a shot and Marchand tipped the puck into the net for his second goal of the post-season.  Providence took the lead at the 19:43 mark.  Wacey Rabbit won the face off and Jeremy Reich picked up the puck halfway up the right boards.  He sent the puck to MacDonald in the high slot, who netted his first goal of the playoffs.  Providence took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went on to the 2-1 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 31 of 32 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jhonas Enroth made 35 saves for the Pirates.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
