Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Providence Bruins earned a point in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night at Mohegan Arena. Riley Tufte scored the lone goal.
How It Happened
Avery Hayes gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead with 7:15 remaining in the second period.
Tufte redirected a feed from Matthew Poitras into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 with 4:57 to play in the middle frame. Brett Harrison received a secondary assist.
Valtteri Puustinen scored the winning goal 2:08 into overtime.
Stats
Tufte scored his 10th goal of the season.
Goaltender Michael DiPietro stopped 14 of 14 shots faced through 12:29 of the game. Simon Zajicek stopped 34 of 36 shots faced in 49:00 of relief. The P-Bruins totaled 25 shots.
The power play went 1-for-5 and the penalty kill was 4-for-4.
The P-Bruins fall to 19-5-1-0.
