P-BRUINS FALL TO PIRATES 3-2

PORTLAND, M. E. – The Providence Bruins battled the Portland Pirates tonight for their first road game of the 2014-2015 season at the Cross Insurance Arena. 

The P-Bruins were off to a rough start in the 1st after losing the face off to the Pirates. With just 14:17 left in the period, a vicious brawl between Eric Selleck of the Pirates and Tyler Randell broke out. About three minutes later, with 11:49 remaining in the period, Cory Kane received a two minute penalty for holding. Breen and Eminger picked up the pace with two slap shots towards the end of the period; but despite their efforts, both shots were blocked by Mckenna. Lucas Lessio of the Portland Pirates also had a chance, but was stopped by Jeremy Smith closing out the 1st period with a scoreless tie. 

The Providence Bruins started strong in the 2nd period. With 9:32 remaining in the period the P-Bruins had a 12-8 shot on goal advantage. Alexander Fallstrom finally netted a goal for the Providence Bruins with an assist from Flick and Eminger. After two periods of play, the score remained 1-0 going into the 3rd. 

The Providence Bruins and the Portland Pirates entered the 3rd period with 17 shots on goal each. 1:45 into the period, Lucas Lessio of the Portland Pirates netted his first goal of the season assisted by McNeil. The Pirates immediately followed Lessio’s goal with another from Darian Dziurzynski to make the score 2-1. The Portland Pirates notch another goal from Brendan Shinnimin assisted by Dylan Reese and Alexander Bolduc to give the Pirates the 3-1 lead. The Providence Bruins respond to Shinnimin’s goals with an unassisted goal from David Pastrnak making the score 3-2 with 2:30 remaining in the period. With 1:12 left in the period, the P-Bruins pull Jeremy Smith from the goal and close out the game with a final score of 3-2.
