PROVIDENCE BRUINS LOSE TO ST.JOHN’S ICECAPS 4-1 DESPITE 51 SHOTS
Providence Bruins Get the first power play of the game with Austin Czarnik, Alex Grant, Jake DeBrusk, Peter Mueller and Peter Cehlarik. which proved unsuccessful. the score remained tied until The St.John’s IceCaps netted the first goal of the game with 2:45 left on the clock. Nikita Scherbak scored his first of the year, assisted by Stefan Matteau.
St. John’s scored again early in the second when Charles Hudon scored his second of the year assisted by Philip Samuelsson to make the score 2-0. The IceCaps increased their lead to 3-0 at 6:21 in the second when Markus Eisenschmid scored unassisted. After allowing three goals on nine shots P-Bruins goaltender Malcolm Subban was pulled in favor of Zane McIntyre. McIntyre settled things down keeping the score down to 3-0 for the remainder of the period.
In the Third period the P-Bruins finally got on the Board When Alex Grant scored his first goal of the season from the blue line on the power play to cut the deficit to 3-1. The goal was assisted by Peter Mueller and Austin Czarnik. Despite 20 shots in the third and a shutout effort by McIntyre, the bruins would get no closer. St. Johns registered an unassisted empty net goal at 19:09 by Sven Andrighetto to close out the game.
The P-Bruins return to the Dunk this Sunday, October, 23 at 3:05 against the Albany Devils.
