PROVIDENCE BEATS HARTFORD TWICE IN ONE WEEKEND, 4-2

PROVIDENCE, RI- Colton Hargrove scored the eventual game winner on a mid third period power play to extend the Providence Bruins’ point streak to seven games in a row. Seth Griffith and Brandon DeFazio both and two points each in the 4-2 win

Griffith got things started in the first when Hartford was issued a tripping minor. On the resulting power play, Ben Youds fired a shot from the right point that was tipped by DeFazio. Griffith hustled in from the far hashes to bury the rebound and give the P-Bruins the 1-0 lead. This was Griffith’s 8 goal of the season.

DeFazio notched his second point of the night 2:16 later to double the Providence lead. The entire Khokhlachev-Czarnik-DeFazio line notched points in the play. Koko and Czarnik controlled the puck behind the net and shipped it up to DeFazio who was able to launch the puck low blocker side.

After consecutive penalties from Frankie Simonelli and Anton Blidh, the P-Bruins were forced to kill over a minute of 3v5 hockey. Brett Bellemore, Griffith, and Breen were caught on the ice for the entirety of 3v5 and managed to hold strong.

The P-Bruins ended the second period similarly to the first, by killing off a 3v5. Anthony Camara was issued a 5 minute major for charging and game misconduct. Youds then was given a 2 minute minor for high sticking. The Wolf Pack were able to capitalize this time, with Adam burying the puck to cut the lead in half

The third period was considerably more chippy than the pervious 40 minutes, with often extra face washing exchanged after the whistle. Hartford tied things a 2 apiece 7:18 into the third on a short handed play.

Hargrove scored the eventual game winner 30 seconds later on the power play. Andrew Cherniwchan and Zack Phillips were credited with the helpers.

Anton Blidh put the nail in the coffin with an empty netter with under 30 seconds left to play to give the P-Bruins the 4-2 lead. Griffith assisted for his second point of the game.

The P-Bruins are back at home Friday December 18th against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
