P-BRUINS TRANSACTION SUMMARY: 2/16/18 – 2/23/18
Providence, RI – In what is expected to be a busy month of transactions for the Providence Bruins, two key Bruins have been involved in roster moves this week. While welcoming back Jordan Szwarz from Boston, the P-Bruins had to say goodbye to Rob O’Gara as his career will continue elsewhere.
Defenseman Rob O’Gara was traded to the New York Rangers along with a third round pick on February 20 for Nick Holden. The 24-year-old New York native was drafted by the Bruins in 2011 and began his professional career late in the 2015 season while still attending Yale University. He played in five games with the P-Bruins that year before returning to Yale for his final collegiate season. He joined Providence once again in 2016, playing in a total of 59 AHL games and was called up to Boston three times that season. For the 2017 season, O’Gara played in 43 games with Providence and eight games with Boston. O’Gara made his Rangers debut last night.
Jordan Szwarz has returned to Providence after being recalled from loan by Boston twice this week. The 26-year-old right winger was called up to Boston on February 16 and then again on February 18 on an emergency basis for their west-coast road trip but did not see any action. Szwarz has skated with Boston 10 times during the 2017-2018 season but now returns to a Providence team that he leads in goal scoring (15).
The P-Bruins will be back in action on tonight, facing the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins will then face the Hartford Wolf Pack in a home-and-home series to close out the weekend. They will be playing in Hartford on Saturday and will be back at the Dunk for a rematch on Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
