Providence Bruins

Feb 1, 2018

Providence, RI – The month of January has come to a close, and it was a busy one for the Providence Bruins’ roster. The P-Bruins saw a total of nine transactions in the month with four of them coming since January 24. Anders Bjork was very busy as he was involved with three of them, but ultimately Providence has lost two young stars to NHL recalls.

On January 24, Boston announced that Bjork would be recalled from his loan to Providence after eight games with the P-Bruins. Bjork came to the team in early January after beginning his first professional season with Boston, playing a total of 28 games to start his NHL career. After being recalled for just one game, Bjork returned to Providence on January 26 and played in the team’s January 27 game in Springfield. Following that game, Bjork was called up again on January 29, making this his third stint with Boston this season.

Boston also recalled Cehlarik from loan on January 31, his first promotion since coming off of injured reserve. Before re-joining the P-Bruins in early January, Cehlarik suffered from a lower body injury while in the NHL that prevented him from skating in 16 games for Boston. After his recovery, he was sent to Providence where the 22-year-old was able to net seven points in 11 games. Cehlarik’s latest transaction marks the third call up from Providence this season and he has a goal and an assist in five NHL games.

Providence will be back at the Dunk tomorrow for their only home game this weekend. The P-Bruins will be facing off against the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05pm in the first half of a home-and-home series. These two teams meet again on Saturday night at 7pm for the second half of the series in Hartford.
