PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Max Lagace made 39 saves on Saturday night, but the Providence Bruins failed to find the back of the net and fell to the Charlotte Checkers, 4-0. The loss marks the first time Providence has been defeated by Charlotte this season after winning the previous two contests. Providence was 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Checkers outshot the P-Bruins, 43-25.

JAY LEACH, HEAD COACH

“It was not a very good game for us. I thought we were pretty good for the first three minutes or so. We sustained some pressure and got a few chances. All of a sudden we turn a puck over and they score right away. That took the wind out of our sails and we were on our heels for the remainder of the period.

“We had a little bit of a push in the second, but gave up too many chances and just didn’t have much in the third.

“What happens during every season - we’re in it right now. We’re just not playing very well. We have to start from the basics and realize nothing’s going to come easy until we start playing the right way.”

BRENDAN WOODS

“We didn’t play too great. We were cheating a little bit and you aren’t going to win too many games that way. Obviously that showed tonight. Luckily we get a chance to come back here tomorrow afternoon and try to get back in the win column.

“We’re at a point now where we’ve all got to find ways to win these games. We’ll see what the lineup is tomorrow and come back hungrier. We’ve got to come in with a pissed off attitude and hopefully get back in the win column.”

STATS

- Trent Frederic led all P-Bruins skaters with six shots on goal and also hit the goal post three times.

- Max Lagace made 39 saves on 42 shots. This season, Lagace has recorded a 13-6-2 record with five shutouts, a .917 save percentage and 2.47 goalsagainst average.
