FOGARTY’S HAT-TRICK LEADS PACK OVER P-BRUINS 4-1

Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins fell to the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-1 Sunday afternoon in the second half of their home-and-home series. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Gemel Smith while Dan Vladar made his 23rd start of the season in net.

The P-Bruins started off the 1st period with a majority of the time in their defensive zone on. The Wolf Pack’s Tim Gettinger managed to break through the wall and sneak a wrap around past Vladar, with helpers Sean Day and Steven Fogarty at 16:29. Gettinger’s 12th goal of the season gave Hartford a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission.

Providence had a rough start to the second period when Fogarty netted the second goal for Hartford with an assist from Vinni Lettieri at 3:50, giving the Wolf Pack at 2-0 lead. The P-Bruins continued to struggle when the Wolf Pack’s Fogarty tallied his second goal of the night, assisted by Lettieri and Brandon Crawley at 9:57. Providence lead in shots 21-20 after two, but Hartford took a 3-0 lead into the third period.

The teams went back and forth most of the third period, but Gemel Smith lit the lamp for Providence at 12:00 with helpers Connor Clifton and Mark McNeill to get the P-Bruins on the board. The Hartford Wolf Pack came back and scored their fourth goal of the game with Fogarty netting a hat trick, with helpers Ryan Lindgren and Gettinger. That was the final nail in the coffin as Providence fell to the Wolf Pack 4-1.

Vladar stopped 25 shots while Neil stopped 29 shots. Providence was 0/5 on the power play and 5-5 on the penalty kill. The P-Bruins will be back at the Dunkin Donuts Center Friday March 1st at 7:05 pm when they take on the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Penguins.
