HARTFORD DEALS PROVIDENCE FIRST REGULATION LOSS OF 2016
Providence, RI - The Hartford Wolf Pack gave the P-Bruins their first regulation loss tonight with a 3-2 win. Providence’s point streak ends at 16 games.
Austin Czarnik got the Providence Bruins off to a quick start when he tallied a goal just 0:31 into the game. Brandon DeFazio controlled the puck into the offensive zone and found Chris Casto crashing the net. Hellberg made a kick save on Casto’s shot but Austin Czarnik was there to roof the rebound.
Hartford responded with two goals scored just 0:46 apart midway through the period.
Frankie Vatrano followed Czarnik’s lead by scoring early in the period, this one coming 1:47 into the second. Seth Griffith battled for the puck in the corner and found Vatrano on the left hashes who went bar down glove side on Hellberg. Noel Acciari was also credited with an assist.
Vatrano’s tally was the lone goal of the period but was far from the only action. Chris Breen dropped the gloves with Hartford’s Tarnasky - who had been gunning for a fight from the start of the game.
Luke Adam scored the game winner 12 minutes into the third with a quick move around Chris Breen and a strong shot from the right face off dot.
The P-Bruins managed plenty of offense in the final minutes of the game, but it was not enough to come back.
Providence is back home at the Dunk Friday February 26th against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
