Providence Bruins

Providence, RI – The Boston Bruins announced today that the team has recalled forward Anton Blidh from Providence and he will join the team today in Boston. Forward Danton Heinen was sent back to Providence as the corresponding move. This will be Blidh’s second stint with Boston this season.

The 21-year-old Blidh made his NHL debut for Boston on December 3 at Buffalo and recorded an assist for his first NHL point December 7 at Washington. He returned to Providence on December 10, a place he has played 21 games in 2016-17. He has six goals and four assists for 10 points with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-eight rating with the P-Bruins in his second full professional season. The MoInlycke, Sweden native was originally selected by the Bruins in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and signed with club after playing two seasons with Frolunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League.

Heinen returns to Providence after his second stint with Boston this season. The 21-year-old has played eight games with Boston this year, though has yet to register his first NHL point. This is Heinen’s first full professional season after joining Providence for the final two games in 2016. He has seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 13 AHL games this year. The Langley, British Columbia native was originally selected by the Bruins in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, but did not play for the organization until after his sophomore season at the University of Denver in 2015-16.

Heinen’s first chance to get back into game action with Providence will come on Friday at the Dunkin Donuts Center when the P-Bruins take on Bridgeport at 7:05 pm.
