4 GOAL THIRD BLOWS DEVILS AWAY, 5-2
PROVIDENCE, RI- The Providence Bruins scored 4 time in the 3rd period to beat the Albany Devils 5-2 and extend their home streak to 10 games in a row. Seth Griffith finished the night with a goal and two assists, Alexander Khokhlachev with a goal and assist as well.
Albany got on the board first when Helgeson’s shot from the point found a way past Subban with 6:27 to play. Devils finished the period with a slight 15-13 advantage in shots on goal
P-Bruins came out looking strong in the second period, with the 4th line of Hickman, Camara, and Cherniwchan playing with grit and coming away with many close scoring opportunities early in the second. Chris Casto scored the equalizer 12:36 into the middle frame, his 14th point of the season. Zack Phillips released a wrist shot from the right side boards, which was tipped by Anthony Camara. Danis coughed up a big rebound, which Casto skated in from the high slot to bury with a quick one-timer.
Providence fired 14 shots on net while holding the Devils to 10, despite a lengthy 3v4 towards the end of the period.
The P-Bruins unleashed a wave of scoring in the 3rd period, including 3 goals in a span of 3:49. Noel Acciari got things going with a slap shot from the high slot rocketing high blocker side. This marked Acciari’s 5th goal of the season and second power play goal. After a quick Albany retaliation to tie the game, Khokhlachev deflected an Austin Czarnik cross in front to give the P-Bruins the 3-1 lead. Just 1:13 later, Brandon DeFazio received
a down-ice Khokhlachev pass to beat his defender and deke around Danis. Griffith finished things off with an empty netter, with the assist going to Anton Blidh.
Justin Hickman showed his brawn when he laid a beat down with only 3 seconds left in the game. Malcolm Subban looked solid between the pipes, turning away 31 of 33 shots thrown his way.
