PROVIDENCE FALLS TO MANCHESTER

Return to Action Tomorrow Afternoon at The Dunk

Manchester, NH
-- The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 3-0 this evening at the Verizon Wireless Center.

The P-Bruins traveled to Manchester with high-spirits after a 2-1 shootout win over the Albany Devils last night. However, the first period was stagnant as both teams failed to get on the board. The teams traded opportunities, but neither found the back of the net.

Manchester's Andrei Loktionov got the Monarchs on the board first at 11:21 of the second frame. While on the power play, the P-Bruins got caught up front and Loktionov was able to score a shorthanded goal. Despite the one-goal deficit, the P-Bruins still pummeled Martin Jones with shots, tallying eight in the second frame. However, their efforts went unrewarded as they went into the final intermission trailing by one goal.

With the game still up for grabs in the early minutes of the third, each team got quality opportunities. However, Manchester took a 2-0 lead at 7:14 when Tanner Pearson collected the rebound from a shot from the point. Despite a last ditch effort from the P-Bruins, the Monarchs secured the win with a late empty net goal at 18:33.

Niklas Svedberg's 27 saves weren't enough as he suffered the loss. Jones' 18 saves earned him the win. Providence went six-for-six on the penalty kill.

Providence returns to The Dunk tomorrow versus the Worcester Sharks. The puck drops at 3:05 p.m. for Megaphone Night. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Megaphone. The P-Bruins' complete season schedule can be found on www.providencebruins.com.
