Back At The Dunk Friday versus Portland

St. John's, Newfoundland - The Providence Bruins fell in overtime to the St. John's IceCaps 2-1 Wednesday evening at the Mile One Centre.  The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Josh Hennessy.  The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Portland Pirates for Sport Bottle Night.

St. John's took a 1-0 lead at the 5:55 mark of the opening period, while on the power play.  Shawn Weller tallied his eighth goal of the season, with Ben Maxwell and Jason DeSantis recorded the assists.  The IceCaps led 1-0 going into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, the P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 8:45 mark of the third period.  Craig Cunningham carried the puck into the zone down the right wing and sent a centering pass to Hennessy.  He scored from the slot, his 15th goal of the season.  The game went into overtime tied at one.

In overtime the IceCaps went on the power play and scored at the 2:26 mark. DeSantis netted his eighth goal of the season, with Jason King picking up the lone assist.  St. John's went onto the 2-1 victory.

Michael Hutchinson stopped 28 of 30 shots for the P-Bruins, while Edward Pasquale made 36 saves for the IceCaps. The P-Bruins were 0-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
