P-BRUINS FALL TO ADMIRALS 3-0

Providence Records 37 Shots

Providence, RI
- The Providence Bruins fell to the Norfolk Admirals 3-0 Sunday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins are back at The Dunk on Friday versus the Manchester Monarchs for "Kids T-Shirt Night."

Coming off their 3-2 shootout win over Manchester the night before, the line of Jamie Tardif, Josh Hennessy and Max Sauvé continued to create scoring opportunities, cycling around the Norfolk defense deep in the Admirals' zone, but they were unable to connect in front. Despite their chances, it was Norfolk that got on the board first. Carter Ashton collected the puck on the half-wall and found Pierre-Cedric Labrie back door, who one-timed it past Michael Hutchinson to take a 1-0 lead at 8:19. Play went back and forth for the next ten minutes, with both Providence and Norfolk exchanging shots and shoves. The Admirals added an insurance goal at 18:15 when Mike Angelidis' blind shot at net found its way through traffic in front and over the goal line, sending the P-Bruins into the first intermission trailing by two.

Providence's penalty kill unit was tested in the early minutes of the second frame, but they easily held off Norfolk's fourth ranked power play and even had a shorthanded scoring opportunity from Jamie Arniel, who beat Norfolk net minder Dustin Tokarski with a toe-drag, but had his shot go wide of the open net. Providence got its own power play opportunity minutes later and saw more scoring chances, but had their best opportunities of the game at even strength. The P-Bruins crashed the net, creating chaos in front of Tokarski and the Admirals defense, but they couldn't connect sending them into the final frame trailing 0-2.

After failing to capitalize on opportunities in the second period, the P-Bruins came out for the final frame hungry to get on the board. However, unlucky bounces and impressive play by Tokarski kept Providence off the board. Norfolk's Labrie added another goal for the Admirals at the 17:39 mark to seal the victory.

Hutchinson suffered the loss, blocking The P-Bruins travel to Manchester on 27 of 30 Norfolk attempts, while Tokarski earned the win, stopping 37 Providence shots.
