Back At The Dunk Sunday vs. Hartford Wolf Pack

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Portland Pirates 3-2 Friday evening in a shootout at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got goals in regulation from Vladimir Sobotka and Byron Bitz, while the shootout goal came from Peter Schaefer.  The P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 4:05 p.m. for Jeremy Reich Poster Night.

After two scoreless periods, the Pirates took a 1-0 lead at the 2:33 mark of the third period.  Felix Schutz netted his fourth goal of the season, while Jimmy Bonneau and Derek Whitmore had the assists.  Providence tied the game at one at the 5:20 mark.  Martin St. Pierre played the puck from behind the P-Bruins net up the left boards to Martins Karsums.  He fed Sobotka at the blue line, giving Sobotka a breakaway.  Sobotka flipped the puck into the net for his sixth goal of the season.  Portland retook the lead at the 7:50 mark.  Whitmore scored his second goal of the season, with Nathan Gerbe and Schutz getting the assists.  The P-Bruins tied the game at two at the 14:17 mark of the period.  Andrew Bodnarchuk sent the puck out of his own zone allowing Bitz and Wacey Rabbit to skate down the ice.  Rabbit dropped the puck off for Bitz in front of the net and Bitz tallied his third goal of the season.

In the shootout, both goaltenders stood strong as the only player to score on either side was Schaefer, allowing the P-Bruins to pick up the 3-2 victory.

Kevin Regan stopped 24 of 26 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jhonas Enroth made 31 saves for the Pirates.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-7 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
