P-BRUINS FALL TO PIRATES 4-3

Back at The Dunk Friday, January 7 vs. Manchester

Portland, ME - The Providence Bruins fell to the Portland Pirates 4-3 Tuesday evening at the Cumberland County Civic Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Jamie Arniel, Matt Bartkowski and Maxime Sauve.  Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 7 at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Manchester Monarchs.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 13:15 mark of the opening period, while on the power play.  Joe Colborne held the puck halfway up the boards and passed it to Yury Alexandrov at the blue line.  He put a shot on goal and the rebound landed on the stick of Arniel, who tallied his 14th goal of the season.  Portland tied the game at one at the 19:21 mark, while on the power play.  Mark Mancari netted his 14th goal of the season, with T.J. Brennan and Matt Ellis recording the assists. The game went into the first intermission tied at one.

Providence retook the lead at the 3:01 mark of the second period.  Kirk MacDonald worked the puck into the zone and dropped it off for Wyatt Smith.  He carried the puck into the slot before passing it back to Bartkowski at the blue line.  Bartkowski fired the puck into the net for his fourth goal of the season.  Portland tied the game at two at the 19:53 mark, while on the power play.  Paul Byron scored his ninth goal of the season, with Drew Schiestel and Colin Stuart picking up the assists.  The game went into the second intermission tied at two.

The Pirates took their first lead of the game at the 1:13 mark of the third period.  Dennis McCauley tallied his fifth goal of the season, while Tim Conboy and Brian Roloff had the assists.  Portland extended their lead to 4-2 at the 10:48 mark, while on the power play.  Stuart netted his sixth goal of the season, with Byron and Schiestel getting the assists.  Providence pulled within a goal at the 17:12 mark.  Maxime Sauve scored his seventh goal of the season, while Jamie Arniel and Jordan Caron grabbed the assists.  The P-Bruins ended up falling by a goal 4-3.

Michael Hutchinson stopped 27 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jhonas Enroth made 24 saves for the Pirates.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins continue their five game road trip Friday versus the Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:00 p.m. before heading to the XL Center to take on the Connecticut Whale Saturday at 5:00 p.m.  The P-Bruins wrap up the road trip Sunday at the Arena at Harbor Yard at 3:00 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  Providence is back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 7 for Kid's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Monarchs.  Information on P-Bruins tickets for the 2010-11 season can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at http://www.providencebruins.com/
