Season Opens October 8 at The Dunk vs. Springfield

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, entering their 19th season in the American Hockey League, today announced their schedule for the 2010-11 season. The Black and Gold, led by head coach Rob Murray and assistant coach Bruce Cassidy for the third straight year, will play an 80-game schedule. The P-Bruins open their season at home on Friday, October 8 at 7:05 p.m., hosting the Springfield Falcons at the Dunkin' Donuts Center to begin a home-and-home series.

The P-Bruins' 40-game home schedule features a new franchise-high 40 weekend dates, including 22 Friday night games and 18 Sunday afternoon contests. All Friday night games will be played at 7:05 p.m., while all Sunday games will begin at 4:05 p.m., with the exception of Sunday, October 31 against the Worcester Sharks. Face-off for that contest will be at 1:05 p.m.

The P-Bruins play in the newly-aligned seven-team Atlantic Division, which has been reduced from eight clubs. Providence will face-off with the Portland Pirates and Worcester 12 times apiece, along with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hartford Wolf Pack, Manchester Monarchs and Springfield 10 times each. This gives the Black and Gold a total of 64 games against its Atlantic Division rivals.

The P-Bruins will see five teams from the East Division, including four meetings with the first-year Charlotte Checkers. They also meet the Albany Devils, Binghamton Senators, Hershey Bears and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for two games each.

The P-Bruins will square off with one team from the Western Conference, the North Division's Abbotsford Heat, on four occasions.

The busiest month of the season for the P-Bruins will be in January with the club playing 15 games. Providence will play a season-high seven home games in each January and March, while playing a high of nine road games in February.

Providence's longest home-stand of the season is three games with meetings against Worcester, Portland and Hartford between November 26 and December 3. The longest road stretch of the year is five games from December 26 to January 7, featuring five match-ups within the Atlantic Division.
