Back At The Dunk Sunday vs. Norfolk Admirals

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 8-3 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got goals from Martins Karsums, Matt Lashoff, Vladimir Sobotka, Johnny Boychuk and two goals each from Matt Marquardt and Mikko Lehtonen.  The P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday versus the Norfolk Admirals at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game.

The P-Bruins got on the board at the 1:12 mark of the opening period to take a 1-0 lead.  Martin St. Pierre had the puck behind the net and left it in the corner for Sobotka.  He passed the puck to Karsums in the slot as he scored his fifth goal of the season.  Providence went ahead 2-0 at the 3:57 mark, while on the power play.  Tuukka Rask played the puck behind his net and dropped it off for Lashoff who skated it up the ice.  He left the puck for St. Pierre who fed it right back to him.  From the left face off circle Lashoff tallied his third goal of the season.  Worcester got on the board at the 7:09 mark.  Steven Zalewski netted his second goal of the season, while Mike Morris and Brendan Buckley recorded the assists.  Providence finished off the first period scoring at the 16:40 mark.  Lashoff skated into the Sharks zone and sent the puck to St. Pierrre at the point.  He found Sobotka in front of the net as Sobotka scored his fourth goal of the season.  The P-Bruins took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

The Sharks pulled within a goal at the 2:15 mark of the second period, while on the power play.  Corey Larose scored his sixth goal of the game with Derek Joslin and Tom Cavanagh picking up the assists.  Providence answered back at the 4:48 mark to take a 4-2 lead.  From the right boards Jordan Knackstedt dropped the puck to Marquardt in the high slot and he blasted it past Worcester goaltender Gerald Coleman for his second goal of the season. At the 12:57 mark the P-Bruins took a 5-2 advantage.  Wacey Rabbit had the puck in the corner and worked it to Lashoff at the right point.  He sent it to Boychuck at the left point who shot it into the net for his third goal of the season.  Providence led 5-2 after two periods.

Worcester once again tried to get back in the game at the 4:18 mark of the third period.  Riley Armstrong netted his fifth goal of the season with Andrew Desjardins and Cavanaugh getting the assists making the score 5-3.  The P-Bruins score three unanswered to finish off the third period scoring.  At the 6:21 mark, Marquardt scored his second goal of the game and third of the season with Knackstedt and Levi Nelson getting the assists.  At the 8:43 mark Lehtonen scored his third goal of the season off a pass from Peter SchaeferAndrew Bodnarchuk had the second assist.  The final goal of the game was tallied at the 18:40 mark.  Once again Lehtonen scored from in front of the net, his second goal of the game and fourth of the season.  Lashoff and Brad Marchand had the assists as the P-Bruins went on to the 8-3 victory.

Rask stopped 32 of 35 shots for the P-Bruins, while Coleman made 16 saves and Kyle Jones made six saves for the Sharks.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
