P-BRUINS FALL TO DEVILS 6-3
Lowell, MA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Lowell Devils 6-3 Sunday afternoon at the Tsongas Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jeff LoVecchio and two goals from Alain Goulet.
The Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 5:31 mark of the opening period, while shorthanded. Kory Nagy tallied his second goal of the season, with Matt Cohen recording the lone assist. Providence tied the game at one at the 7:20 mark, while on the power play. Lane MacDermid had the puck in the corner and worked it to the left point for Doug Nolan. He passed it to Goulet at the right point. He shot the puck through traffic and into the net for his second goal of the season. Twenty-five seconds later Lowell retook the lead. Alexander Vasyunov netted his 16th goal of the season, while Nick Palmieri and Tyler Eckford picked up the assists. The P-Bruins tied the game at two at the 16:19 mark. Jordan Knackstedt had the puck in the corner and sent it to Goulet in the right face-off circle. He put a shot on net and the rebound came to LoVecchio, who put the puck into the net for his 15th goal of the season. The game went into the first intermission tied at two.
Lowell went ahead 3-2 at the 3:49 mark of the second period. Nathan Perkovich scored his 19th goal of the season, while Eric Castonguay and Matt Taormina grabbed the assists. The P-Bruins tied the game at the 17:06 mark, while on the power play. Steven Kampfer had the puck at the right point and sent it to Goulet at the left point. He shot it into the net for his second goal of the game and third goal of the season. The game went into the second intermission tied at three.
The Devils took the lead for good at the 4:00 mark of the third period. Matt Stoesz tallied his first goal of the season, while Nagy and Olivier Magnan had the assists. Lowell grabbed a two goal advantage at the 8:27 mark. Ben Walter netted his 22nd goal of the season, while Brad Snetsinger and Michael Swift recorded the assists. The Devils finished off the scoring at the 16:12 mark. Swift scored his 24th goal of the season, while Walter and Snetsinger picked up the assists. The Devils went onto the 6-3 victory.
Dany Sabourin stopped 21 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Frazee made 30 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 2-for-5 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
