SABOURIN PLACED ON RE-ENTRY WAIVERS

Providence Goalie Could Receive First Recall to Boston

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins have placed goaltender Dany Sabourin on re-entry waivers for the purpose of recall. The parent Bruins have also recalled goaltender Matt Dalton from the ECHL's Reading Royals on an emergency basis. Dalton is expected to be available for Boston's game tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Should Sabourin clear waivers, the P-Bruins will have 24 players on their roster, including 14 forwards, nine defensemen and one goaltender.

Sabourin, 29, is in his first season with the Bruins organization after signing with Boston as a free agent on July 7, 2009. The veteran goalie has appeared in 44 games for the P-Bruins this season with a record of 23-20-0, three shutouts, a 2.63 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage. In his 11 pro seasons, Sabourin has played in 57 NHL games with the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins, compiling an 18-25-4 mark and 2.87 GAA. He split the 2008-09 campaign between Pittsburgh, where he went 6-8-2 in 19 outings, and the AHL's Springfield Falcons, showing a 5-6-2 record. The native of Val d'Or, Quebec, was selected by Calgary 108th overall in round four of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Dalton, 23, earns his second recall of the season to Boston after being summoned on an emergency basis from February 24 to March 1 to practice with the club. The rookie net-minder has appeared in 37 games for Reading this year with a 17-18-2 record, 3.55 GAA and .905 save percentage. Dalton has also suited up for four games for Providence, going 0-4-0. The Clinton, Ontario, native was signed by Boston as a free agent on April 22, 2009 after playing two seasons at Bemidji State University, where his 2.29 GAA is the best in school history.
