Back at The Dunk Friday vs. Manchester Monarchs

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-1 Saturday evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.  The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Jeff LoVecchio.  The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Sport Bottle Night against the Manchester Monarchs.

The Penguins took a 1-0 advantage at the 3:41 mark of the opening period.  Chris Conner scored unassisted, his 15th goal of the season.  Wilkes-Barre made it 2-0 at the 6:24 mark.  Conner tallied his second goal of the game and 16th of the season, while Ben Lovejoy recorded the lone assist.  The Penguins scored again at the 7:03 mark.  Nick Johnson netted his tenth goal of the season, while Wyatt Smith and Conner picked up the assists.  Wilkes-Barre led 3-0 going into the first intermission.

Wilkes-Barre made it 4-0 at the 1:21 mark of the second period, while on the power play.  Conner tallied his third goal of the game and 17th goal of the season with Eric Tangradi and Lovejoy getting the assists.  The Penguins took a 5-0 advantage at the 7:06 mark, with a shorthanded goal.  Tim Wallace netted his 17th goal of the season, while Joe Vitale had the lone assist.  The P-Bruins got on the board at the 15:06 mark.  Yannick Riendeau held the puck along the boards and passed it to Alain Goulet behind the net.  He tossed it in front, where LoVecchio picked it up and scored his 13th goal of the season.  Wilkes-Barre led 5-1 going into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the Penguins went onto the 5-1 victory.

Dany Sabourin stopped 8 of 13 shots and Kevin Regan stopped all nine shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while John Curry made 26 saves for the Penguins.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-8 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins continue their road trip on Tuesday when they take on the Abbotsford Heat at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre at 10:30 p.m.  Providence wraps up the road trip Wednesday in Abbotsford at 10:30 p.m.  The P-Bruins return home to The Dunk Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Sport Bottle Night against the Monarchs.  Information on P-Bruins tickets can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at http://www.providencebruins.com/
