P-BRUINS DEFEAT SHARKS 6-2

Back at The Dunk Friday vs. Hartford Wolf Pack

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 6-2 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Andy Wozniewski, Matt Marquardt, John Lammers, Jordan Knackstedt, Drew Larman and Mikko Lehtonen. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Ice Scraper Night against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The Sharks took a 1-0 advantage at the 2:02 mark of the opening period. Matt Jones tallied his second goal of the season, while Joe Loprieno and Kevin Henderson recorded the assists. The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 4:04 mark, while on the power play. Lehtonen held the puck halfway up the right boards and passed it to Jeff Penner at the blue line. The puck went off his skate to Wozniewski in the left face-off circle, where he netted his ninth goal of the season. Providence took its first lead of the game at the 12:16 mark. In his own end, Alain Goulet worked the puck out of the corner to Levi Nelson, who skated the puck out of the zone. He found Marquardt cutting down the left wing. Marquardt skated towards the net and pushed the puck in for his first goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 2-1 going into the first intermission.

Worcester tied the game at two on a shorthanded goal at the 32 second mark of the second period. Benn Ferriero scored his 16th goal of the season. The P-Bruins retook the lead at the 6:03 mark. Jamie Arniel held the puck in the corner and it was pulled free by Zach Hamill. He found Lammers in front of the net, who tallied his first goal of the season. Providence made it 4-2 at the 6:47 mark. Trent Whitfield stole the puck in the corner and fed Knackstedt in front of the goal, who netted his fourth goal of the season. The P-Bruins continued the scoring seconds later at the 7:01 mark. Lehtonen had the puck halfway up the boards and fed Larman in front of the net, who tallied his sixth goal of the season. Providence grabbed a 6-2 lead at the 8:13 mark. Larman poked the puck down the boards to Lehtonen. He skated into the left face-off circle and shot the puck into the net for his 17th goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 6-2 going into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went onto the 6-2 victory.

Kevin Regan stopped 27 of 29 shots for the P-Bruins, while Tyson Sexsmith made 16 saves and Alex Stalock made 24 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 1-for-9 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins are back in action at The Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Ice Scraper Night against the Wolf Pack. Saturday Providence travels to the MassMutual Center to take on the Springfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the weekend at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Syracuse Crunch.
