Roche Joins Providence from Charlotte

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have signed forward Kenny Roche to a Professional Tryout Agreement. With the move, the P-Bruins have 25 players on their roster, including 16 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Roche, 26, began this season with the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers, registering 27 points in 33 games. The fourth-year pro ranks third on the Checkers in scoring, tied for first with 16 goals and he sits atop the Charlotte roster with six power play strikes. Roche has eight multiple-point games to his credit this season and four point-streaks of at least three games.

The South Boston, Massachusetts, native and four year standout for the Boston University Terriers has enjoyed previous AHL experience with the Lake Erie Monsters and Hartford Wolf Pack, appearing in 35 games with seven points (2g, 5a) between the two squads. In his professional career, Roche has 83 points (37g, 46a) in 135 regular season games and five points (2g, 3a) in 12 postseason contests. The center was selected by the New York Rangers 75th overall in the third round of the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Providence returns to action this weekend with three games, the first two on the road at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tonight at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at Hartford at 7 p.m. The P-Bruins are home on Sunday hosting the Albany River Rats at 4:05 p.m. for Thundersticks Night, free to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under.
