P-BRUINS DEFEAT RAMPAGE 5-1

Return Home For Hat Night Friday vs. Chicago

San Antonio, TX - The Providence Bruins defeated the San Antonio Rampage 5-1 Saturday evening at the AT&T Center.  The P-Bruins got three goals from Jeremy Reich and a goal each for Brad Marchand and Jordan Knackstedt.  The P-Bruins return home to The Dunk Friday, November 7 versus the Chicago Wolves for Hat Night at 7:05 p.m.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 4:32 mark of the opening period.  Marchand sent the puck to Andrew Bodnarchuk at the left point.  He shot the puck towards the net and it was tipped past San Antonio goaltender Al Montoya and into the net for his first goal of the season.  Providence went on top 2-0 at the 8:52 mark.  Johnny Boychuk shot the puck into the corner and it bounced off the boards to Martins Karsums at the left face off circle.  He found Reich backdoor who tipped the puck in for his second goal of the game and the season.  Providence went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

The Rampage got on the scoreboard at the 9:54 mark of the second period.  Garth Murray netted his fourth goal of the season, with Brett MacLean and Simon Ferguson picking up the assists.  The P-Bruins went into the second intermission leading 2-1.

In the third period, the P-Bruins took a two goal advantage at the 11:34 mark.  Peter Schaefer worked the puck into the neutral for Marchand, giving the P-Bruins a 2-on-1 opportunity.  Marchand kept the puck and sent it into the net for his second goal of the season.  Later in the period at the 14:29 mark, the P-Bruins had another breakaway and this time it was Wacey Rabbit feeding the puck to Reich, who slide the puck past Montoya.  The puck barely crossed the goal line slipping into the net, giving Reich the hat trick.  Providence finished off the scoring at the 18:34 mark with an empty net goal from Knackstedt, his second of the season.  Marchand and Matt Marquardt recorded the assists, as the P-Bruins went on to the 5-1 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 30 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while Montoya made 27 saves for the Rampage.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
