P-BRUINS DEFEAT PHANTOMS 3-1

Back at The Dunk Sunday vs. Hartford Wolf Pack

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Adirondack Phantoms 3-1 Friday evening in front of 8,763 fans at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Lane MacDermid, Drew Larman and Jeff Lovecchio. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Jumbo Card Night against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 9:57 mark of the opening period. Craig Weller held the puck halfway up the boards and sent it to Andy Wozniewski at the point. He took a shot and the puck was redirected into the net by MacDermid for his first goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.

The Phantoms tied the game at one at the 1:42 mark of the second period. Jason Ward tallied his sixth goal of the season, while Jared Ross and David Sloane picked up the assists. The game went into the second intermission tied at one.

The P-Bruins retook the lead 31 seconds into the third period. Wozniewski sent the puck into the zone for Weller. He skated it behind the net before tossing it in front for Larman, who scored his fourth goal of the season. Providence added an empty net goal at the 19:27 mark. Kirk MacDonald banked the puck off the glass to LoVecchio, who netted his ninth goal of the season. The P-Bruins went on to the 3-1 victory.

Dany Sabourin stopped 30 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while John Grahame made 37 saves for the Phantoms. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins hit the road Saturday versus the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. Providence wraps up the week at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Jumbo Card Night against the Wolf Pack.
