Rookie Joins P-Bruins on Blue-Line

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have recalled defenseman Scott Fletcher from the ECHL's Reading Royals. With the move, the P-Bruins have 24 players on their active roster, including 14 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.

Fletcher, 21, is in his first professional season after signing an AHL contract with Providence on August 11. The defenseman participated in the P-Bruins' training camp before being assigned to Reading, where he has appeared in 16 games, totaling two goals, one assist and 34 penalty minutes. Fletcher's best game as a pro came on October 13 against the Trenton Devils, finishing the contest as the second star with a goal, assist and plus-three rating.

Prior to turning pro, Fletcher enjoyed five seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, splitting time between the Plymouth Whalers, Niagara IceDogs, Mississauga IceDogs and Saginaw Spirit. In juniors, the undrafted native of Haslett, Michigan, appeared in 236 regular season contests with 15 points (2g, 13a) and 632 PIM. Fletcher also suited up for 25 playoff games, going scoreless with 48 PIM.

The P-Bruins play back-to-back games with the Portland Pirates tonight and Saturday, both at 7 p.m. Tonight's game will be played in Lewiston, Maine, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee and Saturday's contest will be held at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Providence is next home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday, December 11 against the Lowell Devils at 7:05 p.m. for Rhode Island Reds Winter Hat Night.
