Host Game 3 Of Conference Finals Friday, May 22

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins are Atlantic Division champions after defeating the Worcester Sharks 5-1 Wednesday evening at the DCU Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Brad Marchand, Jamie Arniel, Kirk MacDonald, Jordan Knackstedt and Martin St. Pierre.  The P-Bruins win the best of seven series 4 games to 2.  The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday, May 22 at 7:05 p.m. for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 4:59 mark of the opening period, while on the power play.  St. Pierre held the puck halfway up the boards and sent it into the corner for Vladimir Sobotka.  He passed the puck to Marchand, who was open backdoor, scoring his sixth goal of the post-season.  Providence went ahead 2-0 at the 10:05 mark.  Matt Marquardt sent the puck from the neutral zone to Peter Schaefer at the blue line.  He found Arniel backdoor, who netted his first goal of the playoffs.  The P-Bruins went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

The P-Bruins grabbed a 3-0 lead at the 5:32 mark of the second period.  Adam McQuaid carried the puck out of his own end and fed it up ahead to Jeremy Reich.  He took a shot on net and the rebound landed on the stick of MacDonald, who tallied his third goal of the post-season.  Providence went ahead 4-0 at the 13:29 mark.  Levi Nelson held the puck along the boards and worked it into the corner for Zach Hamill.  He tossed the puck in front of the net for Knackstedt, who scored his second goal of the playoffs.  The P-Bruins made it s 5-0 lead at the 14:10 mark, while on the power play.  St. Pierre grabbed his fifth goal of the playoffs with Sobotka and Marchand recording the assists.  Worcester got on the board shorthanded at the 19:48 mark.  Andrew Desjardins netted his fourth goal of the post-season, while Patrick Traverse picked up the lone assist.  The P-Bruins went into the second intermission leading 5-1.

After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went on to the 5-1 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 34 of 35 shots for the P-Bruins, while Thomas Greiss made 25 saves for the Sharks.  The P-Bruins were 2-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
