P-BRUINS DEFEAT SHARKS 4-3, LEAD SERIES 3 TO 2
Series Continues Wednesday In Worcester
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins the Worcester Sharks 4-3 Monday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Martin St. Pierre, Brad Marchand, Jeremy Reich and Levi Nelson. The P-Bruins lead the best of seven series 3 games to 2. The series continues Wednesday, May 13 at 7:05 p.m. for Game 6 of the Atlantic Division Finals at the DCU Center.
The Sharks took a 1-0 lead at the 19:22 mark, while on the power play. Patrick Traverse tallied his fourth goal of the playoffs, with Dan DaSilva and Ryan Vesce recording the assists. Worcester led 1-0 after the first period.
The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 3:07 mark of the second period. Johnny Boychuk picked up the puck off a turnover in the neutral zone and passed it off to St. Pierre. He took a shot that was saved, but scored off the rebound, his fourth goal of the playoffs. Providence grabbed its first lead of the game at the 10:55 mark, while on the power play. From the left face off circle Jordan Knackstedt sent the puck over to Jeff Penner along the boards. He found Marchand in the slot and Marchand netted his fifth goal of the post-season. The P-Bruins added another goal at the 14:08 mark. Adam McQuaid handled the puck at the blue line and sent it to Wacey Rabbit in the corner. He found Reich cutting to the net and Reich tallied his third goal of the post-season. Providence went into the second intermission leading 3-1.
The Sharks pulled within a goal at the 10:28 mark, while on the power play. Jamie McGinn scored his fourth goal of the playoffs with DaSilva getting the lone assist. Fourteen seconds later, the P-Bruins made it 4-2. Andrew Bodnarchuk sent the puck from the blue line into the corner for Zach Hamill. He flipped it in front of the net for Nelson, who tallied his first goal of the post-season. Worcester came back within a goal at the 17:48 mark with the extra attacker on the ice and the goaltender pulled. Riley Armstrong netted his third goal of the playoffs with Vesce picking up the lone assist. Providence held on for the 4-3 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 30 of 33 shots for the P-Bruins, while Thomas Greiss made 29 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.
