P-BRUINS FALL IN SHOOTOUT 3-2

P-Bruins Return To The Dunk Sunday Versus Worcester

Hartford, CT - The Providence Bruins fell to the Hartford Wolf Pack 3-2 in a shootout Saturday evening at the XL Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Vladimir Sobotka and Matt Marquardt.  The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday for Team Poster Night versus the Worcester Sharks at 4:05 p.m.

Providence took a 1-0 advantage only 22 seconds into the opening period.  Johnny Boychuk chipped the puck out of his own zone up ahead for Mikko Lehtonen. He batted the puck along the boards to Sobotka, giving the P-Bruins a 2-on-1 opportunity.  Sobotka kept the puck and shot it into the net from the right face off circle for his 16th goal of the season.  The P-Bruins went ahead 2-0 at the 9:30 mark.  Ned Lukacevic had the puck in the corner and sent it around the boards to Zach Hamill.  He tossed it in front of the net, where Marquardt picked it up and backhanded it top shelf into the net for his ninth goal of the season.  Providence went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

Hartford cut the P-Bruins lead in half at the 5:48 mark of the second period.  Patrick Rissmiller tallied his 11th goal of the season, while Bobby Sanguinetti and Corey Potter recorded the assists.  Providence went into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.

The Wolf Pack tied the game at two at the 11:31 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Artem Anisimov netted his 33rd goal of the season with Paul Crowder and Brodie Dupont grabbing the assists.  The game went into overtime tied at two.

After a scoreless overtime the Wolf Pack got goals from Anisimov and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau in the shootout, while the P-Bruins were unable to score.  Hartford went on to the 3-2 shootout victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 39 of 41 shots in regulation and two of four shots in the shootout for the P-Bruins, while Matt Zaba made 23 saves in regulation and four saves in the shootout for the Wolf Pack.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
