P-BRUINS DEFEAT WOLF PACK 5-3

P-Bruins Return To The Dunk Friday Versus Manchester

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack 5-3 Sunday afternoon in front of 7,327 fans at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Zach Hamill, Kirk MacDonald, Wacey Rabbit and two goals from Johnny Boychuk.  The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday for Adam McQuaid Bobblehead Night versus the Manchester Monarchs at 7:05 p.m.

Hartford took a 1-0 lead at the 2:13 mark of the opening period.  Artem Anisimov tallied his 30th goal of the season, while Michael Sauer and Brodie Dupont recorded the assists.  The Wolf Pack went ahead 2-0 at the 7:08 mark, while on the power play.  Sauer netted his sixth goal of the season with Brian Fahey and Patrick Rissmiller getting the assists.  The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 9:25 mark.  Vladimir Sobotka held the puck behind the net and worked it up the boards to Martin St. Pierre.  He found Boychuk at the point who scored his 18th goal of the season.  Hartford went into the first intermission leading 2-1.

Providence tied the game at two at the 2:43 mark of the second period.  Hamill stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated into the right face off circle.  He shot the puck into the net and tallied his 11th goal of the season.  Hartford retook the lead at the 11:40 mark, while on the power play.  Fahey netted his fourth goal of the season, with Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau and Dupont grabbing the assists.  The P-Bruins tied the game at three at the 19:15 mark.  Boychuk had the puck halfway up the boards and sent it behind the net for St. Pierre.  He found MacDonald in the slot who scored his fourth goal of the season.  The game went into the intermission tied at three.

The P-Bruins took their first lead of the game at the 2:56 mark, while on a 5-on-3 power play.  Mikko Lehtonen held the puck in the corner and sent it around the boards to St. Pierre.  He connected with Boychuk in the right face off circle as he netted his second goal of the game and 19th of the season.  The P-Bruins finished off the scoring at the 19:40 mark with an empty net goal from Rabbit.  Sobotka had the lone assist as the P-Bruins went on to the 5-3 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 21 of 24 shots for the P-Bruins, while Maxime Daigneault made 25 saves for the Wolf Pack.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-6 on the power play and 5-for-7 on the penalty kill.

Providence returns to action Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center for Adam McQuaid Bobblehead Night versus the Monarchs at 7:05 p.m.  The P-Bruins hit the road Saturday to take on the Wolf Pack at the XL Center at 7:00 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend at home at The Dunk Sunday for Team Poster Night against the Worcester Sharks at 4:05 p.m.  Information on P-Bruins tickets can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at providencebruins.com.
