P-Bruins Return To The Dunk Friday Versus Portland

Rochester, NY - The Providence Bruins defeated the Rochester Americans 2-1 Sunday evening at the Blue Cross Arena.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Johnny Boychuk and Wacey Rabbit.  The first place P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday for St. Patty's Hat Night versus the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m.

The Americans took a 1-0 advantage at the 16:41 mark of the opening period, while on the power play.  Michal Repik tallied his 18th goal of the season, with Jason Garrison and Mathieu Roy recording the assists. Rochester took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 5:04 mark of the second period.  Martin St. Pierre sent the puck to the right point where Boychuk blasted it into the net fro his 17th goal of the season.  Providence took its first lead of the game at the 8:03 mark.  Rochester tried clearing their zone, but the puck was held in at the left point by Matt Stephenson.  After skating a few steps closer to the goal he shot the puck towards the net and it was tipped in by Rabbit for his 12th goal of the season.  The P-Bruins took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went on to the 2-1 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 26 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Mike Brodeur made 26 saves for the Americans.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday against the Pirates for St. Patty's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m.  Providence goes back on the road Saturday to take on the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center at 7:00 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend at home at The Dunk Sunday with a Family Game against the Lowell Devils at 4:05 p.m.  Receive one ticket, hot dog and soda for one low price.  Information on P-Bruins tickets can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at providencebruins.com.
