P-BRUINS DEFEAT SHARKS 2-1

Back At The Dunk Friday Versus Manitoba Moose

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got both their goals from Mikko Lehtonen.  The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday versus the Manitoba Moose at 7:05 p.m. for Rhode Island Reds T-Shirt Night.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 9:55 mark of the opening period.  Matt Lashoff held the puck in his own end and worked the puck up the boards to Peter Schaefer.  He found Lehtonen in the left face off circle where he tallied his 13th goal of the season.  Providence took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period the P-Bruins took a two goal lead at the 10:12 mark of the third period.  Schaefer had the puck along the left boards and fed the puck to Zach Hamill in the left face off circle.  He found Lehtonen cutting down the right wing who scored his second goal of the game and 14th of the season.  Worcester cut the lead to one with a goal at the 19:02 mark with their goaltender pulled for the extra attacker.  Steven Zalewski netted his 11th goal of the season, while Ryan Vesce and Tom Cavanagh recorded the assists.  Providence went on to the 2-1 victory.

Kevin Regan stopped 34 of 35 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Thomas Greiss made 18 saves for the Sharks.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
