Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Portland Pirates 4-2 Friday evening in front of 8,333 fans at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Matt Marquardt and Jordan Knackstedt.  The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday versus the Worcester Sharks at 2:05 p.m. for Martins Karsums Poster Night.

After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 3:07 mark of the second period.  Adam McQuaid dropped the puck off for Brad Marchand, who passed it to Marquardt up along the right boards.  He took a shot and put the puck over the shoulder of Pirates net minder Jhonas Enroth and into the net for his seventh goal of the season.  Providence pulled ahead 2-0 at the 6:29 mark.  Marquardt carried the puck into the zone and left it for Marchand who found Knackstedt cutting towards the goal.  Knackstedt backhanded the puck into the net for his sixth goal of the season.  Portland cut the lead in half at the 12:08 mark.  Aaron Slattengren tallied his sixth goal of the season with Tyler Bouck and Tim Kennedy picking up the assists.  The Pirates tied the game at two at the 12:40 mark.  Colton Fretter scored his 13th goal of the season, while Felix Schutz and Derek Whitmore grabbed the assists.  The game went into the second intermission tied at two.

The Pirates took their first lead of the game at the 9:57 mark of the third period.  Fretter netted his second goal of the game with Kenny MacAulay and Zach Tarkir recording the assists.  The Pirates wrapped up the scoring with an empty net goal at the 18:26 mark.  Mike Weber tallied his first goal of the season with Schutz getting the lone assist.  Portland went on to the 4-2 victory.

Kevin Regan stopped 28 of 31 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Enroth made 22 saves for the Pirates.  The P-Bruins were 0-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
