ECHL All-Star has 31 Points for Wheeling this Year

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced that they have signed forward Aaron Clarke to a Professional Tryout Agreement. With the move, the P-Bruins have 22 players on their roster, including 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

Clarke, 24, is in his second professional season. This year, the Peterborough, Ontario, native has nine goals and a career-best 22 assists for 31 points in 27 games for the Wheeling Nailers, earning him a spot on the American Conference's 2009 ECHL All-Star team. Clarke received previous AHL experience with the Binghamton Senators, signing a PTO with the club on December 26, 2008. He appeared in four games, scoring his first career AHL goal in a 4-1 win over the Hershey Bears, before being released on January 13.

As a rookie for Wheeling last year, Clarke produced 19 goals and 36 points in 60 games. Prior to turning pro, the undrafted forward played four seasons of collegiate hockey, two for the Niagara University Purple Eagles and two for the Robert Morris University Colonials. Overall, Clarke had 63 points (27g, 36a) in 95 contests.
