P-BRUINS FALL TO DEVILS 3-2

Back at The Dunk Friday vs. Portland Pirates

Lowell, MA - The first place Providence Bruins fell to the Lowell Devils 3-2 Wednesday evening at the Tsongas Arena.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Adam McQuaid and Jeremy Reich.  The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 16 versus the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night.

After a scoreless opening period, The Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 1:35 mark of the second period.  Michael Swift tallied his sixth goal of the season, with Jon DiSalvatore and Vladimir Zharkov getting the assists.  Providence tied the game at one, while on the power play at the 14:54 mark.  Mikko Lehtonen held the puck halfway down the boards and passed it to Andrew Bodnarchuk at the blue line.  He took a shot and the rebound went to McQuaid in the right face off circle who netted his third goal of the season.  The game went into the second intermission tied at one.

In the third period, Providence took its first lead of the game at the 0:32 mark.  Lehtonen dumped the puck into the zone and Wacey Rabbit pulled it out of the corner.  Reich picked up the puck in the left face off circle and tallied his eleventh goal of the season.  Lowell tied the game at two at the 5:53 mark.  Swift grabbed his second goal of the game with Nicklas Bergfors and Anssi Salmela getting the assists.  The Devils retook the lead at the 8:08 mark.  Pierre-Luc Leblond scored his second goal of the season, while Matthew Corrente and Mark Fraser had the assists.  Lowell went on to the 3-2 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 29 of 32 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Frazee made 29 saves for the Devils.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-1 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

The first place P-Bruins return home to The Dunk Friday against the Pirates at 7:05 p.m. for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night.  Providence is back on the road at the XL Center versus the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday at 7:00 p.m.  Providence finishes the weekend at The Dunk Sunday versus the Rochester Americans for LukOil Thunderstick Night at 4:05 p.m.  Information on P-Bruins tickets can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at providencebruins.com.
