P-BRUINS FALL TO PENGUINS 3-2 IN GAME 5
Providence, R.I. - The Providence Bruins fell to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins tonight by a final score of 3-2 in game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. WB/Scranton now leads the series 3-2. Craig Cunningham and Tyler Randell scored for the P-Bruins, while Malcolm Subban made 20 saves in the loss.
Scoring Summary: At the 12:47 mark in the first period, Craig Cunningham one-timed a power play goal over the shoulder of WB/Scranton goaltender Peter Mannino to give the P-Bruins a 1-0 lead. Ryan Spooner and Seth Griffith were credited with the assists… WB/Scranton answered back just 3:42 later with a goal from Harry Zolnierczyk, assisted by Spencer Machacek and Zach Sill, beating Malcolm Subban to tie the game at 1-1… WB/Scranton capped off the first period with a goal on the power play from Josh Archibald, from Brian Dumoulin and Conor Sheary, giving the Penguins a 2-1 lead into the intermission…Late in the second period Providence struck back as Tyler Randell recorded his first of the playoffs to tie the game at 2-2, with the assist credited to Jared Knight…WB/Scranton took the lead for good 14:20 into the third period when Anton Zlobin scored his fourth of the playoffs, assisted by Jayson Megna and Simon Despres, for the game-winner.
